Three of the four #1 ranked teams at the end of 2015,  have maintained their top spots after the first big weekend of competition in 2016, according to the coaches and media.

The new #1 is in 4A, and based which teams they've beaten so far, they've probably earned it. Natrona is now on top, after beating former #2, now unranked Sheridan and former #1, now #2 Cheyenne East, back-to-back last week. The Fillies have this week off, to prepare for conference play that starts next week. Getting ready for the conference schedule is what every 4A team is preparing for. Cheyenne Central moves up to #3 after sweeping the competition at home this past week. Gillette is one vote behind them at #4, and is back in action vs. teams from Rapid City, South Dakota. Rounding out the top 5 is Laramie, who is in for the first time this season, and for the first time in a long time.

Worland is the near unanimous #1 in 3A. The Lady Warriors were tested at the Big Horn Basin tournament last week, but maintained their undefeated record. Elsewhere, Mountain View stays at #2, while Newcastle is up to #3. Star Valley holds at #4, and Buffalo is in at #5. There's not much on the schedule this week, as far as ranked team vs. ranked goes.

Defending champ Lyman took all of the first place votes, to be the unanimous #1 team in 2A. The middle of the rankings saw some shake-up, as #2 Pine Bluffs and #3 Southeast move ahead of #4 Big Horn...that largely because the Lady Hornets and Lady Cyclones both went on the road and beat the Lady Rams last week. Wyoming Indian has to share their #5 spot with Thermopolis.

It's still close on top of 1A, but St. Stephens maintains the #1 ranking, by 1 vote ahead of #2 Encampment. The Lady Tigers and #3 Little Snake River, begin conference this weekend, by hosting defending champ Cokeville. Lingle-Ft. Laramie is up 1 spot to #4, and has a big game Saturday against 2A #3 Southeast. Rock River starts the 2016 calendar year at the #5 spot.
