Big games still remain on the schedule, and when it's the second meeting between 2 teams ranked by the coaches/media...that makes it even bigger.

The first matchup between #1 and #2 in 4A lived up to its billing, until the 4th quarter. Let's see if Cheyenne East has learned their lesson, when they host unanimous top ranked Gillette this weekend. As for the rest of the rankings, #3 Natrona, #4 Laramie and #5 Rock Springs will start their second run through conference play, just like every other 4A team.

There's not much change in the latest 3A rankings, although the climb for one team has finally paid off. Mountain View has cracked the top 5 at #5. The Lady Buffalos will have to prove they are worthy of that spot this weekend, when they host a Powell team looking to return to glory after stumbling last week. Undefeated Douglas is still ranked #1, followed by Lyman, Worland and Star Valley.

There was a little movement in the latest 2A rankings. Pine Bluffs as usual is the unanimous #1 team. Big Horn and Wyoming Indian swap positions at #2 and #3, with the Lady Rams now holding the higher spot. Southeast holds at #4, and has some unfinished business this weekend at unranked Lusk. The Lady Tigers scored an upset win at the Cyclones' gym a few weeks ago. Lovell and Rocky Mountain tie for the #5 ranking, and those 2 teams should settle their difference this Saturday at Cowley, provided both can get by unranked Greybull.

For most of the season, the 1A rankings have been dominated by the west and it's no different this week. Defending champ St. Stephens continues to hold the #1 ranking, followed by Farson-Eden. Both teams can secure #1 seeds for the upcoming regional tournaments with wins this weekend. #3 Encampment has another big game at home...this time hosting #4 Little Snake River. #5 Lingle-Ft. Laramie needs to keep an eye out on their Saturday opponent. Unranked Rock River has only lost one game, but it's been the strength of schedule that's been holding back the Lady Longhorns, from getting into the top 5. If they can pick up a big road win this weekend, that should get the voters' attention.
