The 4 pre-season #1 teams have been determined by the coaches and media...after that it's a pretty close vote for other teams in the top 5.

In 4A, defending champ Gillette stands above all. The voters either voted the Lady Camels as #1 or #2...and the #1's prevailed. Sheridan and East tie for the #2 ranking, The Casper schools round out the top 5, with Natrona at #4 and KW at #5. Natrona will visit Gillette on opening weekend, while Sheridan and KW will hook up at Riverton and East travels out of state.

Like the Boys 3A rankings...Worland is ranked #1 in the girls rankings, and like the boys, they have the opening weekend off. Behind the Lady Warriors, it's a close race for the next 4 rankings. Star Valley claims the #2 spot. Then it's defending champ Powell, followed by Rawlins, and state runner-up Lovell. 1 vote separated each spot between #3, #4 and #5. Powell and Rawlins could meet in Cody to start the season. Meanwhile Douglas is out of the pre-season top 5, after starting the season at #1 in each of the past 3 years.

A new era begins in 2A. It's the first time in 42 years that Coach Dianne Moser is not coaching a basketball game at Tongue River. Now the Lady Eagles have to work their way back, because they are not in the top 5 to start the season. Defending champ Lyman is the clear cut #1 in 2A, claiming 6 of the 9 1st place votes. Runner-up Southeast will try to make another state championship run this season, and start out at #2. One vote behind them is Wyoming Indian at #3, and one vote behind the Lady Chiefs is Kemmerer. Not far behind both of them is #5 Big Horn. WIHS is in for the busiest opening weekend, as they host #5 3A Lovell, and then they'll head over to Lander, where they'll play #1 Lyman in a non-conference game.

The 1A rankings are the tightest of all 4 classes. Defending champ Cokeville starts out on top, for the 4th time in the last 5 years. Both the Lady Panthers and #2 Encampment start the season at the Carbon County Invitational...just not vs. each other. One vote back of the Lady Tigers is Kaycee and State Runner-Up St. Stephens who tie at the #3 ranking, while Little Snake River is one vote behind both at #5.
