With many teams playing their rival this week, the coaches/media rankings either have no meaning, or it adds fuel to the fire.

It won't be the rankings that determine the top 3 seeds for the 4A playoffs, but it could be a coin. New #1 Natrona, #2 Thunder Basin and #3 Cheyenne East all beat other...now it's a matter of waiting to see what happens in the next 3 weeks. Sheridan is the unanimous #4, while Laramie retains the #5 ranking, which hasn't been good to any team in the spot for the past few weeks.

There's still some good games on the schedule in 3A. #1 Torrington is in the drivers seat, but that doesn't mean they can take it easy between now and the post-season. The big game this weekend is in Teton County as #3 Star Valley visits #2 Jackson. The Broncs would have the inside track to the west #1 seed with a win, while SV needs a win and has to take care of #4 Cody next week. The Broncs are back in business after taking care of former #3, now #5 Evanston.

The first #1 seed for the playoffs could be secured this weekend, if #1 Buffalo can take care of business at #4 Wheatland. The Bison have 2 games left after this week, but only 1 of them is in conference. The Bulldogs could challenge for that top seed, if they can do what they haven't done since 2002. Glenrock moves ahead of Mountain View for the #2, after the Herders manhandled Burns and the Buffalos had to pull off a last minute win last week. Greybull moves back in at #5, but Pinedale should have an argument, seeing how they beat the Buffs in Big Horn County 2 weeks ago.

The same 5 teams in 1A got all of the votes again this week. #1 Big Horn swatted former #2, now #3 Pine Bluffs at PB last week. Cokeville moves up to #2 as a result. Upton-Sundance and Lusk remain at #4 and #5 this week, and the Hornets still have to play both of them.

The top 2 teams in 6-man are unanimous. #1 Farson-Eden and #2 Hanna-Elk Mountain-Medicine Bow are those teams. The Pronghorns took no prisoners last week vs. former #2, now #3 Meeteetse, and they have turned their attention to #4 Little Snake River, who is back in the rankings after a 2 week absence. H.E.M. has the weekend off, because this is their forfeit win vs. Rock River. #5 Burlington will take their forfeit win vs. Ten Sleep this week.

Disclaimer: The rankings have no official say on post-season positioning, and are only to be used as a measuring stick on the regular season. Please don't read too much into the rankings.
