Most of the top teams in the latest coaches/media football rankings haven't been challenged yet, but that will change in due time.

The top 3 ranked 4A teams are unchanged from last week. Gillette retains the top spot, while Sheridan and Rock Springs hold at #2 and #3. Cheyenne South moves up one spot to #4, and will try to attain Capital City Supremacy, if they can do one thing that have not yet done...beat #5 Cheyenne East.

Like 4A, the top 3 3A are unchanged as well. Star Valley collected all but 1 first place vote. Behind them is Green River and Douglas. Torrington climbs up 1 spot to #4, and Buffalo is in the rankings at #5. There are no games this week pitting ranked team vs. ranked team, and since it's still early in the season, this is a good time for an unranked team to pull off a surprise and get noticed.

The top 5 2A teams are still ranked compared to last week...just in a slightly different order. Glenrock and Greybull collected all the 1st votes and are the top 2 teams, heading into the start of conference play. Big Horn is up one spot at #3. #4 Mountain View is probably the team to keep an eye on this week. Lyman may be unranked, but when it's the Bridger Valley Battle...neither team cares about record and rankings, because it doesn't matter. Wheatland falls 2 spots to #5, and will make their first ever trip to Pinedale this week.

1A has the most interesting games this week as 4 of the top 5 play each other, in the first of the East-West crossovers. Upton-Sundance is the unanimous #1, and host #5 Rocky Mountain who is new to the rankings this week. Tongue River is still the #2 ranked team. That leaves #3 Shoshoni and #4 Southeast, who are on each other's schedule this week in Yoder. Last year, the Wranglers had an undefeated regular season, but in the first round of the playoffs, the Cyclones showed them just how strong the East Conference is. It's very doubtful that Shoshoni has forgotten.

6-Man teams start conference play this week. There are no games this week between ranked team vs. ranked team, but considering how unpredictable 6-man can be...who knows what will happen? Meeteetse keeps their #1 spot, while Kaycee moves up 1 spot to #2. The voters were very impressed with Farson-Eden's long distance win last week, and thus the Pronghorn jump up to #3, meaning Little Snake River stays put at #4. Midwest is in the rankings at #5.
