The best have separated themselves from the rest, now the teams will determine which is #1, and not the coaches and media's opinion.

The final 4A rankings of the season point to a Gillette and Sheridan final, as they were the only teams to get 1st and 2nd place votes. Natrona finished the regular season at #3 and will try to crash the party, but they have to take care of Kelly Walsh first. Rock Springs gets the final #4 spot, by 1 vote ahead of #5 East, but it's the Thunderbirds that have home field in the rematch from the start of the season. Expect a much different game the second time around.

3A could provide the most entertaining matchups in the post-season, with 2 undefeated teams in the picture. Jackson takes over the #1 spot by 1 vote over Torrington, while Star Valley is the unanimous #3. Green River and Douglas swap spots from last week, meaning the Wolves are #4, but like the Bearcats, they have to hit the road for the first round.

Last week's results in 2A shook things up all over. The voters were very impressed with Big Horn's road win last week at Wheatland, and the Rams share the final #1 ranking. If both can get by their first round opponents, they would rematch in Wheatland in the semi-finals, but first thing is first. BH is going to have their hands full visiting #5 Greybull. The Buffalos need a good opponent to regroup, and with 2-time Super Bowl winning former Pittsburgh Steeler Brett Keisel in attendance (Greybull grad)...let's just say this has the potential to be the best first round game. Elsewhere Glenrock remains at #3, because they didn't play a conference game last week, while Lovell moves up to #4 after their big win, to secure the top seed out of the west.

The final 1A rankings are similar in one way, and different in another. The similarity is that there's 1 team from the west and 4 from the east. The difference is that the west team is Shoshoni (ranked #1 by the way), and not the usual team which has been Cokeville. The Wranglers are in unfamiliar territory in several ways. This is the first home playoff game they've had since 2001, they're 0-2 lifetime in the first round vs. #5 Southeast (to their defense, both of those games were in Yoder), and if Shoshoni wants to win their first title in 30 years, they will probably have to do what Cokeville has done...beat 3 teams from the East, which is usually a very difficult task. As the old saying goes...take it one game at a time. Meanwhile, Lingle-Ft. Laramie moves back up to #2 by 1 vote ahead of #3 Upton-Sundance, while Tongue River stays at #4, heading into their 2nd trip in as many years to Cokeville (TR got creamed 55-0 last year).

Like 4A, the top 2 teams in 6-man are obvious, but whether they'll both make it to Laramie remains to be seen. Meeteetse is the unanimous #1 and Kaycee is the unanimous #2. Little Snake River follows both at #3. #4 Farson-Eden will make the long trip to #5 Hulett, to determine which of the 2 is semi-final worthy.
