In the wake of a successful 2012 season and promising spring slate, Wyoming soccer coach Pete Cuadrado announced Wednesday the 2013 women’s soccer schedule.

Highlighting the 2013 season are tough matches against TCU and Montana, a trip to national power Portland, opening the Mountain West season against first-year program Colorado State and facing traditional league powers San Diego State, New Mexico and UNLV at home.

“We're excited about our 2013 schedule and looking forward to the season,” Cuadrado said. “Our spring season went well as we dealt with losing seven seniors to graduation. We hope to build on our new team chemistry as we welcome our 2013 additions and look to gel quickly heading into August. We are two months away, but I know the team and the coaches are already excited and thinking about the upcoming season.”

The season begins Aug. 23-25 at the Montana Tourney in Missoula, Mont., where the Cowgirls will face the Horned Frogs to open the tournament and play the Grizzlies two days later.

South Dakota will visit Laramie on Friday, Aug. 30 as the home opener before the Cowgirls hit the road to take on Drake (Sept.6) and Nebraska-Omaha (Sept. 8). Following the trip to the Midwest, Wyoming will host four consecutive home games as Weber State (Sept. 13), New Mexico State (Sept. 15), Northern Colorado (Sept. 18) and Idaho State (Sept. 22) visit the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex.

The Cowgirls then travel to Portland, Ore., to take on the University of Portland, one of the most successful soccer programs in the nation. The Pilots finished the 2012 season ranked No. 24 in the nation with an 11-5-5 record following a second-round finish at the NCAA Tournament.

Mountain West competition begins at CSU on Sunday, Sept. 29, when the Cowgirls will face the Rams in their inaugural women’s soccer season. After a quick road trip to Boise State (Oct. 4) and MW newcomer Utah State (Oct. 6), Wyoming will host four consecutive league games versus New Mexico (Oct. 11), San Diego State (Oct. 13), Fresno State (Oct. 18) and another MW newcomer San Jose State (Oct. 20).

Following a road game at Nevada on Friday, Oct. 25, the Cowgirls return home for a Senior Day match-up with UNLV on Sunday, Oct. 27. An always tough opponent, the Rebels have battled Wyoming to 0-0 draws the last two times out. The regular season closes with a road game at Air Force set for Friday, Nov. 1, in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The Mountain West Championships are scheduled from Nov. 4-9 in Albuquerque, N.M.
