A Rock Springs woman who was wanted for a probation violation with an underlying fraud conviction as arrested in Rock Springs Thursday, according to a spokesman for the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Department.

Dick Blust says 61-year-old Paula Quinton pleaded guilty in Federal Court to mail fraud after she admitted defrauding people with phony sales scams on the internet.

Blust says she kept scamming people even after being warned by federal officials that she was committing fraud.  Proceeds from her scams were going to Nigeria and elsewhere. Her case was investigated by special agents of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration, and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

On May 4, she failed to appear at a probation violation hearing, and she was arrested on May 11 by Sweetwater County Sheriff's Deputies and U.S. Marshals. At last report, she was being held in the Sweetwater County jail.
