CODY, Wyo. (AP) — Hurricane-force wind has knocked out windows and electricity in northwest Wyoming.

Winds reached 82 mph in Cody and were even stronger in the tiny community of Clark about 40 miles east of Yellowstone National Park.

But no damage was reported in Clark after gusts up to 117 mph. Clark often gets extremely strong winds that in certain weather conditions roar down out of a nearby mountain range.

In Cody, gusts the day after Thanksgiving toppled a 40-foot spruce tree onto a visitor center. Electricity cut out in some areas, and one home had two storm windows knocked out.

The wind even inconvenienced shopping on Black Friday. Walmart employees in Cody asked shoppers to return carts indoors so they wouldn't be blown into vehicles parked outside.
