With the NFL Draft underway, Wyoming fans are waiting to see where former Cowboys are selected or sign via free agency.

One player Wyoming fans are keeping a close eye on is former running back Brian Hill. He chose to leave UW after rushing for a school record 4,287 yards in three seasons. Hill has been projected to be a fourth or fifth round draft pick.

By comparison, two other standout running backs from the Mountain West are drawing similar projections, in Boise State’s Jeremy McNichols and San Diego State’s Donnel Pumphrey. McNichols ran for 3,205 yards in three seasons, while Pumphrey ran for an NCAA record 6,405 yards in his career with the Aztecs.

Hill was rated 12th among running backs and the No. 153 overall prospect by CBSSports.com. McNichols was right behind at No. 13 for RB’s and 160th overall, while Pumphrey was listed 14th and No. 163 overall. Sports Illustrated had Pumphrey at 11 and McNichols at 13, but Hill wasn’t among its top 15. SB Nation rated Hill 11th and McNichols 12th, but Pumphrey was down at No. 22. Drafttek.com listed McNichols as their 11th-best “full feature” back, while Hill was No. 14. Pumphrey topped their chart as an “RBC,” or running back “change of pace” type player.

Now, we know you could very well be a Wyoming fan and choose the “homer” pick, but we want to know what you think realistically.
