The National Weather Services is cautioning that weather conditions for the rest of this week and into part of the weekend will be windy and dry which means the risk of wildfires spreading remains high for several parts of Wyoming.Weather conditions conducive to starting and aiding wildfires are causing concerns throughout the state. Just last week in Niobrara County alone there were 23 fires, most of which had been started by lightening. Wheatland, WY and the surrounding area has also had it's fair share of fires. Firefighters extinguished a large fire near Wheatland several days ago but are now working to suppress another wildfire that has grown to over 650 acres.

Firefighting crews including helicopters and tankers are battling the Christnick fire in Albany County that has burned over 650 acres of sagebrush and grass. Cooler weather and possible moisture this weekend will hopefully give some sort of relief to the crews battling that fire as well as numerous other crews fighting wildfires across the state.
