About The Show
The most popular of Gilbert and Sullivan’s works, THE MIKADO is a sparkling and lavish comedic operetta written at the height of the duo’s creative powers. There’s too much flirting going on in the town of Titipu, and it’s against the law! So the Mikado (emperor of all) decrees that heads must roll. But what to do when love is in the air? Wandering minstrel (and errant son of the Mikado) Nanki-Poo will do just about anything to win the hand of the national executioner’s betrothed, for she is his one true love. This delightful work features some of Gilbert and Sullivan’s best‐loved songs, including, “The Flowers That Bloom in the Spring,” “On a Tree by a River (Tit Willow),” “Three Little Maids,” and “A Wandering Minstrel, I.”
