The University of Wyoming has hired a veteran of the petroleum industry to assist UW’s Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute with its technical outreach efforts.

Lon Whitman will be working with EORI from its Casper office and his responsibilities will include corporate outreach project development and relationship development, according to the University of Wyoming.

Whitman was involved with EORI from 2005 to 2011, developing and leading outreach efforts for the institute. During that time he created the institute’s successful Minnelusa Consortium. Whitman will now build on the institute’s technical outreach model. He will also represent EORI at industry and trade association meetings.

After leaving the institute in 2011, Whitman founded a private consulting company, Premier Oil Recovery in Casper. The company aimed to enhance and improve oil recovery and residual oil zone development.

Whitman is a UW graduate with a degree in petroleum engineering.
