A Laramie couple will race to the west coast in a road rally with a goal of giving a child with a life-threatening illness and their family a week of respite and treatment.

Hubbard Coe and Francie Cook are Team Stig, and they've already raised $1,675 of their $2,500 goal. When they reach their goal, that will be enough to sponsor a week-long visit for a child and their family to Camp Sunshine, a year-round program in Casco, Maine that serves the entire family in a retreat model, free of charge, and provides on-site medical and psychosocial support.

"Each team raises on their own for the charity and all of the donations we receive go to the charity, not to us," says Coe. Team Stig is still accepting contributions at their donation page, all of which will go to Camp Sunshine.

Rally North America, the organization putting on the event, has met their goal with over $100,000 raised from roughly 80 participating teams. That amount can put up 40 families -- the camp's maximum capacity -- at Camp Sunshine for a week.

"They do rallies every year, and lots of times there's multiple rallies each year," Coe says. "Anyone can do this. You could do it in a rental car if you want."

Coe and Cook will leave Billings, Mont. when the Big Sky Rally kicks off Monday. Their five-day road rally will lead them through Big Sky, Mont., Great Falls, Mont., Kellogg, Idaho and Kennewick, Wash. before they arrive in Portland, Ore. Teams will have to complete a scavenger hunt throughout each day.

The route will cover over 1,100 miles. Total drive time is estimated at 17 hours and 41 minutes, but that of course will vary from team to team. You can follow Team Stig's drive on their Facebook page.

Coe and Cook are seniors at the University of Wyoming. Coe has participated in previous rallies in 2012 and 2014, with each raising money for charity.
