Trash Pickup-Ask the City

Question:

It seems few people put their trash bins out on the pickup days that do not include recyclable pickup. This means that labor, fuel, and wear and tear costs are incurred for little service. Has the city considered eliminating this pickup day to reduce costs?

Answer:

"It is the city's observation that the majority of customers do put their trash carts out every week. Every other week pickup would cause some smelly trash carts during the summer months. To prevent propagation, harboring, or attraction of flies, rodents, or other vectors and the creation of nuisances such as offensive odors and litter caused from overflowing trash carts, the Solid Waste Division will continue to collect trash weekly."
