A traffic stop for speeding on November 7th resulted in the seizure of approximately 59 pounds of marijuana. The traffic stop occurred at 12:26 p.m. on Interstate 80 eastbound approximately 11 miles east of Lyman, Wyoming.

A Wyoming State Trooper saw a compact car travelling east at 87 mph in a posted 80 mph zone. When he stopped the car, the trooper became suspicious that the people inside were involved in some type of criminal activity, specifically drug trafficking.

A Wyoming Highway Patrol drug detection K-9 was called in, and soon detected a controlled substance in the car. After searching, troopers located 59 pounds of raw high-grade marijuana and marijuana edibles.

Officers found that the marijuana was being taken to the Chicago, Illinois area from San Francisco, California. With the help of the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, 26 year old Edward Keeley and 25 year old Lauren Short, both of Midlothian, Virginia, were arrested. Both were taken to the Uinta County Jail and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. The estimated street value of the seized marijuana is $352,065.
