UPDATE: The Natrona County School District has updated the notice concerning a possible threat on social media. It now has been expanded to include Kelly Walsh High School. Here is the new notice:

The Natrona County School District has received notification of multiple social media concerns identifying rumors of a school safety threat to Natrona County High School and Kelly Walsh High School. We have all buildings on heightened awareness and an increased law enforcement presence at NCHS and KWHS. There has not been a substantiated threat at KWHS or NCHS. We are increasing law enforcement presence as a precautionary measure due to the rumors of a safety concern circulating on social media. We are actively investigating in cooperation with local law enforcement.

The safety concern reported last night, 12-18-18, at Midwest School has been resolved. There is not a safety concern to Midwest Schools regarding this report.

We greatly appreciate students, staff, and community members who come forward to report these concerns or rumors. We take each one seriously and investigate in cooperation with local law enforcement. Any updates or information we have will be shared.

If you notice a greater police presence at Natrona County High School today, the school district explained on it's Facebook page this morning.

Here is the official explanation. We will update when more is known.

NCSD Officials and Casper Police Department have been working throughout the night regarding a social media post identifying a safety concern to Natrona County High School. The social media post identified a rumor of a threat to the school. As of 6:40 am this morning, we have been unable to identify the originator of the threat. The Casper Police department was unable to verify any viable threat to NCHS or any other school in Casper. Local law enforcement will have a heightened presence at NCHS today. We will continue to provide updates as they are available to us. We will continue to work together with local law enforcement to keep students and staff safe.
