The Laramie Plainsmen Will Try To End Another Long Losing Streak [VIDEOS]

Friday night in Laramie, the Plainsmen will try to accomplish something that hasn't been done in 13 years; defeat Cheyenne Central on the football field.

The year was 2001. It was the first ever varsity high school football game at Riske Field in Cheyenne. Laramie returned the opening kick-off for a touchdown and ended up defeating Central 34-0.

Since then, the rivalry has been one-sided in favor of the Indians. They've won 15 straight games, which is the longest streak for either team in a series that dates all the way back to 1909.

Laramie Plainsmen senior Tristan Eickbush believes they can put an end to the skid.

Both teams are coming off a victory last week. Laramie (2-2) won at Evanston, while Central (1-3) got the first win in the Drew Severn era with a home victory over Rock Springs.

Both teams are putting up similar statistics on offense. LHS is at 281.5 yards per game, while Central is at 286.8. On paper, the edge goes to the Plainsmen, who give up about 100 yards (334.5) less per game than the Indians (434).

Laramie head football coach Chuck Syverson is still worried about Central. He knows they're going to throw a lot of looks, scheme-wise, at Laramie.

It's Laramie against Central, as the two long-time rivals square off at Deti Stadium in Laramie. Kick-off is at 7 p.m.
