The Powder River Basin Resource Council and the Wyoming Outdoor Council will be hosting a community event to learn more about solar power in Wyoming.

“The Future of Solar in Wyoming” will be held Wednesday, May 16th from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Altitude Chophouse.

The event will be an overview of solar power in Wyoming, particularly the status of “rooftop” solar in Wyoming, including presentations from solar users and a panel discussion about the challenges and opportunities for solar growth in the Cowboy State.

“With solar power installations growing in Wyoming, we need to think about what our state policies are, and where they need to be,” said Powder River member Sarah Gorin in a statement. “It’s time to plan for growth. Solar power provides jobs and other benefits for our communities, and our state policies should promote those outcomes.”

The event is part of Powder River’s RENEWyoming campaign to provide assistance to Wyomingites interested in exploring solar power. Now is an opportune time to begin using solar power, event organizers say, as installation costs have dropped.

The Outdoor Council and Powder River will be supplying refreshments.
