Taking a pet with you on vacation can be a challenge. Just ask Mitt Romney, who still gets grief about the time he strapped his Irish Setter — who was suffering from diarrhea — to the roof of his car during a family trip in 1983. Nevertheless, it seems that most pet owners still take their favorite furball on vacation with them.

According to a survey from PetRelocation.com, 47 percent of pet owners plan to take a trip with their animal companions this summer. An additional 40 percent plan to hit the road with a pet over the next year. The survey also found that 85 percent of dog owners have vacationed with their pet in the past, whereas only about a quarter of cat owners have.

But one question still remains — will you?
