It was a game plan that was executed perfectly for 35 minutes and 47 seconds. It was the last 13 seconds that went awry, as the Laramie Lady Plainsmen nearly pulled off a David versus Goliath upset in the first round of the 4A State Tournament in Casper Thursday night. They lost in overtime to the Natrona County Fillies, 39-36.

The thought of possibly winning the school's first ever boys basketball title in 28 years was crushed Thursday afternoon in Casper. The Laramie Plainsmen lost their first round 4A State Tournament game to Evanston 64-54 in overtime. The Red Devils closed out the game on a 20-2 run, which included a 10-0 scoring edge during the extra period.

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — A potential conflict between Wyoming state high school basketball championships and junior college basketball regional playoffs in Casper has been resolved for now.

The Laramie Lady Plainsmen took down an undefeated team from Natrona County, 38-35, to win the Wyoming Class 4A State Basketball Championship on Saturday at the Casper Events Center. It's the first state championship in basketball for the Lady Plainsmen program.

For the second time in three years the Laramie Lady Plainsmen are in the 4A State Championship game. Behind 14 points apiece from Ali Beckler and Ragen Wilson, Laramie pulled away from Evanston for a 45-27 victory in the semifinal game on Friday at the Casper Events Center.

The Laramie Lady Plainsmen picked up a first round victory at the state basketball tournament with a 49-35 win over Kelly Walsh at Casper College on Thursday night.

The Laramie Plainsmen will bring home the 2nd place trophy from the class 4A 2011 Wyoming State Basketball Tournament after a 60-33 loss to the Gillette Camels in the championship game.

The Laramie High School girls basketball team earned a third place finish at the 2011 Wyoming State Basketball Tournament on Saturday.  Four senior Lady Plainsmen got to finish their high school career with a victory as Laramie beat East 44-29 on the final day of the tournament.
