Cowboy Comeback Falls Short, Lobos Win 63-59
Hugh Greenwood hit an open 18-footer and a pair of free throws with 7.4 seconds left, and the 20th-ranked New Mexico Lobos escaped Laramie with a 63-59 win Wednesday night in Mountain West Conference action at the Arena-Auditorium. The Lobos shot 53.8 percent from the field in the second half and finished with four players in double figures.
Air Force Defense Frustrates Cowboys in 57-48 Loss
A cold shooting night spelled disaster for the Wyoming Cowboys, as they lost their second straight game, 57-48, to the Air Force Falcons Saturday at the Arena-Auditorium. The Pokes shot 33 percent from the field, which included a 5-28 (17.9%) performance from beyond the arc. It was the Falcons second straight win in Laramie.
Cowgirls Dominate in Road Victory at Air Force, 86-48
Behind a career high 27 points from Kaitlyn Mileto, the Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team earned their first conference road win, 86-48, over the Air Force Falcons Saturday afternoon in Colorado Springs. A 14-0 run in the first half put the Cowgirls in control, as they won their second straight.
Rebels Push Past Pokes, 62-50
The UNLV Runnin' Rebels proved to be too much for the Wyoming Cowboys, as they pulled away in the second half for an 62-50 victory at the Thomas and Mack Center Thursday night in Las Vegas. UNLV shot 48.8 percent from the field and had a key scoring run in the second half that allowed them to take control of the game.
Cowgirls Stay Undefeated at Home, Beat UNLV 76-54
Kayla Woodward had 23 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the Wyoming Cowgirls past the UNLV Lady Rebels 76-54 Wednesday night at the Arena-Auditorium. The Cowgirls used a 19-5 run over six minutes of the first half to break the game open and improved to 9-0 at home this season.
Mountain West Shifts Football and Basketball With Recent Changes
The Mountain West Conference today made several announcements prompted by the new 12-team football alignment and 11-institution configuration in all other sports beginning with the 2013-14 academic year. The league’s directors of athletics formed two football divisions based upon common geographic regions and traditional rivalries, while also creating the first Mountain West football championship game. The group also established schedule models for men’s and women’s basketball and received an update on the implementation of the recently announced Mountain West Digital Network.
Cowboys Corral Aztecs, Win 58-45
Behind a pair of double-doubles from Leonard Washington and Larry Nance, Jr., the Wyoming Cowboys knocked off the 14th-ranked San Diego State Aztecs 58-45 in front of 9,573 Saturday at the Arena-Auditorium. Washinton finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Nance had 11 points and 12 rebounds.
