Rockies Outlast Padres 8-6 In 12 Innings

The Colorado Rockies (36-57) ended their three-game losing streak with Jordan Pacheco’s 12th inning RBI single, propelling the team to an 8-6 win over the San Diego Padres (40-56) last night in California. Rockies Start Fast, But Fall To Pirates 9-6

The Colorado Rockies (35-56) came out of the gate fast, scoring three runs in the first inning and two in the second, only to see the Pittsburgh Pirates (51-40) take the lead with five of their own in the third, on their way to a 9-6 win over the Rockies. Colorado is off today, before starting a three-game series in San Diego tomorrow night.

Rockies Walk Off With 5-4 Win Over Pirates

The Colorado Rockies (35-54) averted disaster after blowing a 3-run ninth inning lead, with Dexter Fowler’s walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 9th to top the Pittsburgh Pirates (49-40) 5-4 last night in Denver. The win came after a 58-minute rain delay. Game two of the series is tonight at 6:40 at Coors Field (TV: Root Sports).

Rockies Drop Series Finale With Phillies 5-1

Left-handed starter for the Colorado Rockies (34-54), Drew Pomerantz, gave up five runs on five hits in five innings yesterday afternoon, en route to a 5-1 series finale loss to the visiting Philadelphia Phillies (39-51). The Rockies open a three-game series against the NL East leading Pittsburgh Pirates (49-39) tonight at 6:40 at Coors Field (TV: Root Sports).

Colorado Rockies Slugger Carlos Gonzalez in Home Run Derby Tonight

For me, it used to be the highlight of the baseball season, the home run derby. There was something about Chris Berman’s voice and antics, and that rivalry that Ken Griffy Jr. had with just about anyone who thought they could take him on including hometown slugger Larry Walker. Everyone smiled and had fun, what baseball is all about. It’s been awhile, but we finally have another Rockie to cheer for in the home run derby tonight, and he won’t even have to worry about beating Griffy.

Rockies Return Home To Top Nationals 4-2

On the hottest night in Coors Field’s 20-year history (100 degrees at game time), the Colorado Rockies (28-44) cooled down one of the hottest teams in baseball by beating the visiting Washington Nationals (41-30) 4-2 last night in Denver. The Colorado Rockies (25-41) continue to struggle, losing last night for the 11th time in 12 games, 7-2 to the Philadelphia Phillies (32-37). Colorado also announced yesterday that it was sending Jeremy Guthrie to the bullpen, and will go with a four man rotation for the foreseeable future. The two teams go again tonight at 5:05 MT at Citizens Bank Park (TV: Root Sports).
