UW's Manufacturing-Works was recently awarded a $500,000 grant from the National Institute of Standards and Technology that will help support Wyoming businesses.
The New Access Point grant will allow the EHCW to open the only Federally Qualified Health Center in Laramie. The facility is expected to be operational in May and it will provide comprehensive health care services to Albany County residents regardless of their ability to pay.
In the last year alone, I-80 has seen over 1,400 crashes including 13 deaths and over 250 injury-related crashes. But this connected vehicle technology aims to trim those statistics.
Shane Murphy, assistant professor in the UW Department of Atmospheric Science, is specifically examining the effects of black and brown carbon emitted from wildfires.
“We definitely have to do what’s right for the business,” says Storey. “We think that what’s right for the business right now is to do whatever we can to stay in Laramie.”
