A gust of 120 mph was reported in Clark, Wyo., on Thursday.

The Laramie River last measured 8.6 feet at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Emanuel is hopeful that the Laramie River will stay in the minor flood stage, but he says it could get close to the moderate flood stage at nine feet.

“Conditions are very dangerous at this time,” says Burton. “People shouldn’t float when the river is this high. It will drop soon; wait until then for your float trip.”

According to the National Weather Service, campers and outdoor recreationists headed to the mountains this weekend need to be aware and watch for rapid water rises.

Folks can expect the high-water conditions to remain until the end of spring runoff season.
