After tough year on the gridiron for the Laramie Plainsmen, a dozen players on the roster garnered some level of All-Conference honors from the Wyoming Coaches Association. LHS finished 1-8 this past season. There was one First-Team, eight Second-Team and three Honorable Mention 4A East All-Conference selections for the Plainsmen.

Sophomore Quarterback Brett Smith and Junior Cornerback Marqueston Huff were tabbed Mountain West Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week in the Mountain West, as announced by the conference office Monday. Smith threw for a career-high 412 yards and completed three touchdown passes, while Huff registered seven tackles and forced a key fumble in Wyoming's 28-23 win at UNLV last Saturday. It was the Cowboys third straight victory.

After he threw for a career-high 374 yards, accounted for 396 yards in total offense and passed for four touchdowns, Wyoming Cowboy Sophomore QB Brett Smith is up for two honors in which fan voting determines the winner. Smith was named one of the Manning Award "Stars of the Week" and is also a candidate for the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas MW Player of the Week honor.

Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball’s sophomore middle blocker Erin Kirby was named the Mountain West Women’s Volleyball Co-Player of the Week announced Monday by the conference office. She earned the honor for the first time in her career.

A fourth straight win in the Border War for the Wyoming Cowboys came on the strength of a couple of great performances by Brett Smith and Blair Burns. For their efforts, they were recognized Monday as the Mountain West Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.

It seems that many of the people who strive to conserve and protect the environment often seem to be the type to shy away from publicity or recognition. Now however, is the time for these people to be recognized.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Laramie campus of WyoTech has been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS).
