However, two new studies are challenging those assumptions, with findings suggesting that older folks are also quite susceptible to addiction’s trap.
Authorities say a teenager whose body was found outside a Cheyenne high school after temperatures dipped to 10 degrees had a blood-alcohol level of 0.226 percent — nearly three times the legal limit for driving. Laramie County Coroner Marty Luna says 18-year-old Andrea Battle died of hypothermia, but alcohol was a contributing factor.
According to a survey involving about 450,000 adults, 17 percent of Americans are binge drinkers.
