As the political season warms up be aware, if your planning to run for office, filing opens in just over a week in Wyoming.

State Elections Director, Peggy Nighswonger, says first day for filing is May 17th and it closes on June 1st. Anyone running for local office will file at your local county elections office.

“State wide candidates are actually able to file their application for nomination on line and pay their filing fee on line with a credit card. That portal to do that will be open beginning May 17th.”

Nighswonger says the Secretary of State’s Office also offers online a Wyoming Campaign Guide that’s updated each year. The guide offers a checklist of required reports, tables describing contribution limits, campaign finance disclosure requirements and highlights Wyoming Campaign Practices law.
