UPDATE:

Four structures have been lost in the squirrel creek fire, this according to notes given to residents at a private meeting by officials this morning.  The notes say that three outbuildings and one residence have been destroyed.  Members of the public who attended the meeting tell KOWB that it was said that the residence was a cabin, and was an unoccupied non-primary home.

The evacuation area in the Squirrel Creek Fire was expanded at about 6:00 Monday evening.  According to the website InciWeb, a westward run by the fire caused the Albany County Sheriff's office to order immediate evacuation for anyone within three-mile radius of Fox Park.  The blaze has burned down to highway 230 on the south and established itself on Sheep Mountain on the east.  Highway 230 and Fox Creek Road are closed.

As of 10:00 AM Tuesday, InciWeb had listed the fire's size at 6700 acres.  This size was corrected from 7,000 acres after more accurate mapping of the fire was obtained.

An evacuee station has been set up at the Albany County Fairgrounds by the American Red Cross.  People wishing to make donations are advised that monetary donations are the most useful and can be made on the Red Cross website.

The fire is believed to have started Saturday afternoon in the Squirrel Creek drainage in the Medicine Bow National Forrest approximately 30 miles southwest of Laramie.  The cause is still unknown.

Albany County Commissioner Tim Sullivan told KOWB this morning, that the public is invited to an informational briefing on the fire at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening at Laramie Jr. High.

InciWeb currently lists 190 people involved in fighting the blaze, which is listed has having "extreme" growth potential.

UPDATE:

According to notes given to residents at a private briefing Tuesday Morning, it was said that fire crews were able to establish an anchor point at Highway 230 on the southwestern flank of the fire.  The notes go on to say that from that point, crews were able to establish hose lays and bulldozer lines directly along the western flank.  The notes say that the establishment of these hose lays and bulldozer lines is a "significant success."
