A Wyoming State Trooper conducted a traffic stop Friday morning at 9:55 a.m. on Interstate 80 westbound on a passenger car for speeding 103 mph in a 75 mph zone. The stop was approximately three miles east of Green River, Wyoming.

During the stop, the trooper had a reasonable suspicion that some other criminal activity was going on. The driver was identified as 19 year old Ronnie J. Rake of Nice, California.

While the trooper was interviewing Rake, a fight began in the ditch next to the interstate as Rake tried to run away. Multiple witnesses driving by the struggle contacted 911 saying the trooper was in need of assistance.

Rake was eventually taken into custody and has been taken to the Sweetwater County Detention Center in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He has been charged with speeding and interference with a peace officer. Three other troopers and deputies from the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office responded to assist.

The Highway Patrol thanks to all of the concerned citizens who notified 911. Incidentally, no one was hurt in the fight.
