The final process for the Soldier Springs Road Resurfacing Project was approved yesterday by the Board of County Commissioners.

Soldier Springs Road was initially resurfaced with a 2-inch overlay of asphalt in September 2013 that cost the city $582,674. According to a local statute, the county now has 41 days to pay Simon Contractors a final payment of approximately $58,000, the typical project retainer that allows for any unexpected error in construction.

Albany County Engineer Bill Gorman says work on the road won't be needed for the next 10 years.
