Sen. Barrasso Among Those Seeking Pipeline Meeting

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso and Sen. Max Baucus of Montana are among a group of lawmakers seeking to meet with President Barack Obama to discuss the future of the Keystone XL pipeline extension.

The Associated Press reported Tuesday that they and 16 other lawmakers signed a Nov. 16 letter asking for a meeting on the pipeline.

It would take Canadian crude to Louisiana through states including Montana and South Dakota.

Calgary-based TransCanada proposed the extension in 2008 and Congress passed a bill last year mandating a decision on the project. However, the president rejected the application because he said the deadline didn't allow for a proper review.

Even though the pipeline won't pass through Wyoming, Barrasso said its residents understand that such energy projects can create good jobs.
