See the Total Lunar Eclipse Over Laramie

In the early morning hours of Saturday, December 10, there will be a total lunar eclipse visible over the skies of Laramie.

The total eclipse will likely be visible from 4:30 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. and can be seen in the west, just over the Snowy Range mountains in the horizon.

A lunar eclipse can only occur the night of a full moon and happens when the moon passes behind the Earth, and the Earth blocks the suns rays from striking and subsequently reflecting off of the moon's surface.  Anyone on the night side of the Earth can view a lunar eclipse.

The next total lunar eclipse is not expected to occur until April 15, 2014.
