The first committee involved in the search for a new University of Wyoming president forwarded a list of semifinalist candidates to the second search committee.

In an all-day session on Friday, the first search committee approved the list of semifinalists and completed its work.  The second committee is set to begin its task of choosing 3-5 finalists this Thursday, Nov. 12.

“We are forwarding a strong group of candidates to the second committee and are excited to pass the torch in the selection process,” said Trustee Jeff Marsh of Torrington.  “I express my appreciation to the members of the first committee for their time and dedication in helping the Board of Trustees identify the best possible person to lead the university.”

In keeping with the UW Board of Trustees’ plan to keep the names of candidates confidential until the list of finalists is complete, the meetings of the second committee will remain closed to the public.  Once finalists are chosen and submitted to the Board of Trustees, their names will be made public.

The finalists will journey to the UW main campus to participate in public forums.  Stakeholders will be given a chance to meet with the finalists and share their thoughts with the Board of Trustees.  The board will interview each finalist separately, and consider the opinions of constituents.  A new president could be chosen as soon as late December.

Public comment on the presidential search is still being sought.  Anyone can give input via email at UW.Presidential.Search@uwyo.edu.
