Coming off a series win in L.A. against the Los Angeles Dodgers (60-52), the Colorado Rockies (40-69) open a three-game weekend series on the road against the National League West leading San Francisco Giants (61-51) tonight at 8:15 MT at AT&T Park (TV: Root Sports). Tyler Chatwood will get the start for Colorado.

Tim Lincecum will start for the Giasnts. In three starts against Colorado this season, Lincecum is 1-0 with a 3.66 ERA.

As for Chatwood, the right-hander made his first big league start of the season Sunday and didn’t last long, giving up three runs (one earned) on two hits while issuing four walks and striking out one in 3 1/3 innings.

What does Chatwood need?

“Consistency,” Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. “Just like the same type of consistency we’re looking for from some of our younger guys.”

Worth noting for the Rockies – Outfielder Dexter Fowler has 11 triples this year and 50 for his career, which makes him the Rockies’ franchise leader. He leads the Major Leagues with his 11 triples, and 35 of his 96 hits are for extra bases.

Rockies outfielder Eric Young Jr. has 14 hits and eight runs over his last six starts since July 31.

Tickets are available for the Rockies’ next home game at Coors Field vs. the Milwaukee Brewers on August 13th, and can be purchased by calling (800) 388-ROCK, or click here.
