A legendary rock band has decided to add a classical flare to their latest tour. Kansas will perform with the University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra as part of their 2012 Collegiate Symphony Tour.

Best known for their hits, “Carry on My Wayward Son,” “Point of Know Return,” and “Dust in the Wind,” Kansas is using their status to hopefully raise money and awareness for collegiate music programs. By the end of the tour, they will have performed with 27 symphonies at colleges across the country.

Certain to be a concert like no other, UW Symphony Orchestra conductor Michael Griffith remarked that backing up a rock band would be a first for UWSO.

The concert is slated for Friday, April 27 at 8 p.m. in the UW Arts and Sciences auditorium. Premium seats are going for $49 while general admission is $39. Get a hold of the UW Fine Arts box office to get a hold of your ticket.

Go ahead and get a taste of what classic rock sounds like when you add a symphony in the video below.
