A fun 5K run and walk is set to color Laramie on the Fourth of July. The Laramie Reproductive Health Rainbow Run is slated to kick off at 11 a.m. on Independence Day. A kids’ fun run will take place just before the 5K at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 5-12.

Online registration is open until midnight on June 30th, but in-person registration continues to be accepted at Laramie Reproductive Health, located at 413 S. 21st Street. Same-day registration will also be accepted beginning at 8:45 a.m. and will stay open until 10:30 a.m.

Registration for the 5K run is $25. The kids’ race costs $15. All proceeds benefit Laramie Reproductive Health.

So far, the community has shown a lot of interest in the run. Scott Cheney, Outreach and Education Coordinator with Laramie Reproductive Health, says over 20 children are signed up for the kids’ race, and over 200 people are registered for the 5K.

Those participating in the 5K are encouraged to wear white. Participants will be doused with a brightly colored, non-toxic powder during the event.

The main race starts in the parking lot in front of the Laramie Reproductive Health. Runners and walkers will be doused with color right away in the parking lot as they begin their run, and they will go through multiple other color stations along the way.

The kids’ fun run will begin lining up at 10:15 a.m. and take off at 10:30. The run will begin on the corner of 21st and Rainbow and will run the length of Washington Park and back. The kids’ run is complete with a color station.
