The University of Wyoming will conduct no further searches for a new president. On  Friday, UW officials held a press conference officially changing Dr. Richard McGinity's status  from interim to full-time President. McGinity, now the 25th president of the University, replaces President Sternberg who resigned after a brief four-month term in office. McGinity, said that the possibility of becoming full-time president was always present, but it was after the holidays that he was seriously propositioned with the idea.

During the press conference President McGinity stated that he wanted to have three primary areas of focus during his presidency:

The newly-elected president has a contract through June 30, 2016.  UW's Board of Trustees president, David Bostrom, explains the board's rationale for  a two-and-a-half year contract:

President McGinity ended his conference by stating:  ''At the end of  two-and-a-half years from now, the only thing that matters to me is when I--and everyone-- looks back, how will we answer the question of  'How good of a job did he do?'  because the only thing that counts is results."
