The Laramie Plainsmen won their third cross country race of the 2015 season with another superior effort last Friday.

The Laramie boy's win in Littleton, CO was one of the highlights from last weekend.

LHS Cross Country

The Plainsmen moved up to Division 2 and took the individual and team titles at the 38th annual Liberty Bell Cross Country Invitational. Senior Chris Henry won with a time of 15:25. He helped LHS finish with 46 points. Broomfield, CO was a distant second with 99 points.

Albert Steiner and Jacob Morgan also finished in the 10. They were eighth and tenth, respectively.

The Lady Plainsmen came in 13th place out of 19 squads with 268 points. Junior Maria Smith-Lopez ended up 12th to lead the squad.

LHS Golf

The Laramie Lady Plainsmen won their second straight golf tournament, as they captured the team crown at the Green River Invite at the Rolling Green Country Club.

The LHS ladies finished with a two-day total of 522, which was 17 strokes in front of Cheyenne East and 19 ahead of Natrona County.

Senior Jacquie Perdue ended up in second place. She shot a 158 over the two rounds. Teammate Ali Stark finished in 9th place with a 183, while Sienna Trujillo and Amanda Warren tied for 12th at 186.

As for the Plainsmen, they finished seventh with a 664 total. Senior Eli Bryant posted the best finish in 17th, as he carded a 162.

LHS Tennis

It was a tough weekend that featured four duals on the hard courts for the Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen. The boys finished 2-2 with wins over Cheyenne Central and Riverton, but losses to Gillette and Sheridan. The girls went 1-3. Their only victory came against Riverton.

The boys' number one doubles team of Miles Stump and Ky Fike went 3-1 on the weekend. At ladies number two singles, Lea Bergman also finished 3-1, which included Laramie's only win against Gillette.

For the season, the boys' record is 4-2, while the girls' are 3-3.

Lady Plainsmen Swimming and Diving

The Laramie girls were runner-up at the 2015 South Invite in Cheyenne last Saturday. LHS ended up with 233 team points, but that was well back of champion Gillette, who totaled 379 points.

Laramie won one event, and that was diving. Senior Ryleigh Kobbe dominated with 435.30 points. Her margin of victory was 110 points. Teammates Teryn White and Yasmin Martin finished third and fourth, respectively.

Lady Plainsmen Volleyball

It was a tough opening weekend to 4A East Conference action, as the Lady Plainsmen lost both matches in four sets at Gillette and Sheridan.

The LHS ladies fell to the Camels last Friday by scores of 25-15, 25-21, 22-25 and 25-16. Saturday in Sheridan, the Broncs topped Laramie 25-23, 20-25, 25-16 and 25-20.

Laramie is now 4-9 on the season and 0-2 in conference.
