The Laramie Plainsmen won three events and utilized some depth, as they captured the team title at the 4A East Regional Track Meet in Cheyenne.

Junior McCade Johnson finished first in both hurdle events. He won the 110’s in 15.11 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 38.99 seconds. Johnson also came in fifth in the 400 meters.

Senior Chris Henry won the 3200 meters in 9:54.92. Henry was also runner-up in the 1600 meters and fourth in the 800 meters.

The Laramie boy’s had 31 finishes in the top eight that led to 154 team points. Gillette was second with 126 points, while Cheyenne Central ended up third at 125.50 team points.

The Lady Plainsmen won two events and came in third place in the team standings.

Senior Kayla Sherrodd won the 800 meters in 2:23.94. She added a fifth place effort in the 400 meters.

Junior Maria Smith-Lopez captured the other individual title in the 3200 meters. Her time was 11:51.05. Smith-Lopez also came in fifth in the 1600 meters.

Overall the Laramie girl’s scored 95.50 team points for third place. There were a total of 21 top-eight finishes that produced team points.

Gillette easily won the regional team crown with 237.50 points. Sheridan was second, 115 points back, at 122.50.

On another note, Laramie High School head coach Gil Bradfield was named the 4A East Boy's Coach of the Year.
