A Colorado woman who was not wearing her seat belt was killed in a crash that also injured at least one child on Interstate 80 Friday night.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol declined to identify the woman, as her family has not been identified, but did say in a news release that the woman is from Boulder, Colo.

The Patrol says in a news release that the woman was a passenger in a westbound 2007 Nissan Murano driven by 26-year-old Yoeny Rodarte Estrada, also from Boulder. About two miles east of Rock Springs near mile post 108, the Nissan left the highway towards the median, was overcorrected to the right and went off the highway into a ditch, where it tripped and rolled multiple times.

The woman who was killed was not wearing her seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. She died at the scene.

Yoeny Rodarte Estrada and four passengers -- ranging in age from 20 years old to five years old -- were taken to hospitals in Rock Springs and Salt Lake City, Utah.

Two of the five were wearing a seat belt or were restrained in a child seat and were not ejected during the crash, according to the Patrol. Three others who were not restrained were thrown from the vehicle.

The Patrol continues to investigate and is examining speed and lack of seat belt use as contributing factors in the crash.

The woman who was killed marked the 61st highway fatality in Wyoming in 2016. In the same time period in 2015, 92 people had died on Wyoming highways.
