No Highway Fatalities Over Memorial Day

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, as of Tuesday no fatal crashes have been reported over the Memorial Day weekend.

Major Perry Jones, spokesperson for Wyoming Highway Patrol, said the weekend was just what the state needed.

Jones said, “Wyoming has had a tough month of May, with twelve fatalities in nine separate crashes to date, so having a fatality free Memorial Day weekend is a much needed change of direction.”

Memorial Day weekend usually kicks off summer celebrations, which can be a scary time on Wyoming roads. Jones says summer months are actually the most dangerous for Wyoming highways because there are more people travelling, along with more motorcycles, trailers, and recreational vehicles on the roads. The variety of types of vehicles translates to varying speeds which can result in problems on the roadways.

While there is still the possibility that a fatal crash occurred and has not yet been reported, Jones says nothing indicates that is the case.
