Laramie High School won nine events at the South Twilight Track and Field Invite last Thursday in Cheyenne.

In their only meet last week, the Plainsmen won five events, while the Lady Plainsmen won four. No team scores were released.

Senior Connor Beeston won the 100 meter dash in 12.17 seconds. He was also part of the winning 4X100 meter relay. Sophomore Jason Upton captured first place in the 300 hurdles at 43.02 seconds. He anchored the winning 4x400 meter relay. Junior Albert Steiner won the 1600 meter run in 4:53.72. He led a 1-4 finish for the Laramie boy’s in the event. Junior Philip Henry, junior Liam McInroy and freshman Mason Swingholm came in behind Steiner.

The Plainsmen also had 15 other top eight placings at Cheyenne South.

Freshman Abigail Whitman led a 1-4 finish for the Lady Plainsmen in the 1600 meter run. Her winning time was 5:43.15. Allison Dodds, Maria Smith-Lopez and Sara Seran placed in order behind Whitman for LHS.

Also with victories in Cheyenne were junior Kyra Wulff in the 200 meters. She ran 28.81 seconds. Caroline Lockard captured first place in the 100 meter hurdles in 18.41 seconds. Jennifer Aadland won the long jump by a half-inch. She went 14-feet 11.50 inches for the win.

The Laramie girl’s came through with 19 other top eight performances last Thursday.

LHS track and field is scheduled to return to competition Friday at the Douglas Track Invitational. It begins with field events at 10 a.m. followed by track events at noon.
