Trustees with the Natrona County School District have approved a three-year contract extension for district superintendent Steve Hopkins.

The deal that district trustees approved earlier this week extends Hopkins' contract through 2017. Hopkins will also see a bump in salary to just over $190,000.

Hopkins took over for the now-retired Joel Dvorak in July 2012 after a near-unanimous vote in January 2012. Prior to becoming the district superintendent, Hopkins acted as the district's associate superintendent of business services.

Hopkins has been with the district for nearly two decades. In his two years as superintendent, Hopkins has overseen several major construction projects throughout the district.
