Roy Stops did, poorly.

Stops, 57, of Boulder, Colo., was arrested Friday after crashing into a car that had been pulled over by the Wyoming Highway Patrol about five miles east of Shoshoni, according to a prepared statement by Sgt. David Wagener.

The Highway Patrol had pulled over a sedan for speeding at mile post 95 on U.S. Highway 20-26 at 5:19 p.m., according to the prepared statement.

Trooper Lee Pence's patrol car was behind the stopped sedan, and Pence saw Stops' car nearly miss his car and then crash into the sedan.

No serious injuries happened.

Stops was arrested and charged with impaired driving, careless driving, driving while his license was revoked, having an open container of an alcoholic beverage, and no insurance.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol reminds people to be aware of impaired drivers and to report suspected impaired drivers by calling (800) 442-9090 or 911.

Likewise, Wyoming law requires motorists to slow down on two-lane highways and move over on interstate highways when approaching stopped emergency vehicles for the safety of everyone.
