WASHINGTON (AP) — Fifty years ago today, Martin Luther King delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech at the March on Washington.

Today, people across the country are commemorating the event. The bells at churches and other buildings will ring in almost every state at 3 p.m. Eastern, to mark the hour King spoke to the crowd of hundreds of thousands.

President Barack Obama is among those scheduled to speak at today's commemoration in Washington.
