Lander native Jessie Allen was crowned Miss Wyoming 2014. She will represent Wyoming in the Miss America 2015 Competition in Atlantic City in September.

From leading youth horse pack trips every summer, she consistently can see the benefits nature has on children's physical and mental health). With the reliance on technology, American children are disconnected from nature. As Miss Wyoming 2014 she will use her experience as a wilderness guide, her bachelor’s degree in communications and her public speaking experience to get children active outdoors. She is in the process of looking into partnering with the Department of Interior’s “Lets Move Outside” and the National Wildlife Federation’s “Be Out There”. These programs are leading the way to restore daily outdoor time in children’s lives.

A sixth generation Lander native, Jessie  spent every summer guiding horse pack trips for her family's guest ranch, Allen's Diamond Four Ranch, in the Wind River Mountains where they host guests from all over the world.

After organizing a “health, horse and yoga” retreat at her family mountain ranch, she would like to expand her business and lead trips in other exotic locations around the globe. She aspires to expand the guest ranch to host a larger summer camp for children. She has had the opportunity to travel through New Zealand for four months volunteering on farms as well as spending a month in Thailand becoming a certified yoga teacher and also backpacked through Spain, Italy and Switzerland.

She graduated LVHS with a 4.0 in 2008; Obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication with a Marketing minor from the University of Wyoming in 2012.
