Wyoming Gov. Matt Mead has named Delbert A. McOmie, director of Wyoming's School Facilities Department, interim director of the new State Construction Department.

According to its website, the School Facilities Department will become a division of the new State Construction Department July 1.

Governor Matt Mead has named Del McOmie interim director of the new State Construction Department. The Legislature passed Senate File 92 which consolidated the School Facilities Department and the state Construction Management Division. McOmie is currently director of the state School Facilities Department overseeing K-12 school construction across the state.

“Del has done a great job with the School Facilities Department since taking over last October,” said Governor Mead. “I have confidence in his ability to lead the new State Construction Department.”

“These agencies have always operated separately. Now they can come together and share expertise, best practices and resources,” said Mr. McOmie. “I’m very excited to guide those efforts and help something new take shape.”

Mr. McOmie began was Chief Engineer for the Wyoming Department of Transportation before serving as interim director of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services in 2015. Governor Mead then tapped him as director of the School Facilities Department on October 12, 2015.
