For the first time this season, a Wyoming women’s basketball player has earned Mountain West Player of the Week honors. Sophomore Marquelle Dent was given the award for games played from Feb. 3-Feb. 9. It’s the first weekly honor for Dent in her career.
 
Dent, a sophomore from Denver, Colo., led Wyoming to a 2-0 record last week with Conference home victories against New Mexico (79-75) and UNLV (82-56). For the week, she averaged 19.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game, while shooting 68.4 percent from the field (13-of-19).
 
Dent scored a career-high 21 points against the Lobos on Feb. 5, while grabbing a career-tying seven rebounds.  She was 6-of-9 from the field and had four assists and one steal. Dent followed that up with an 18-point, seven-assist performance against UNLV on Feb. 8, while shooting 7-of-10 from the field and 4-of-5 from the free throw line. She also had three rebounds and three steals in the game.
