A Centennial man accused of possessing child pornography pleaded guilty Tuesday in Albany County District Court.

Nathaniel Lane Wamberg, 18, pleaded guilty to two felony counts of sexual exploitation of children.  In exchange, the prosecution dropped three additional charges and agreed to recommend boot camp at sentencing.

Wamberg could face a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and $20,000 in fines.  He will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

“I made a stupid decision,” said Wamberg.  Judge Jeffrey Donnell agreed.

“Short of murder, there is very little you can do in violation of criminal law that will get you in more trouble than kiddie porn,” said Donnell.

Donnell revoked Wamberg’s $25,000 bond and had him remanded to custody pending sentencing.

According to court documents, Albany County Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at Wamberg’s apartment on Aug. 5, 2015 after learning of explicit text messages Wamberg sent to a minor.

On a USB memory card seized during the search, deputies found numerous images and videos containing juveniles in lascivious or explicit sexual conduct.  Wamberg said in a police interview that he downloaded the videos from the internet and knew it was illegal to have them.

A sentencing date will be set after the pre-sentence investigation has been completed.
